Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas I stop and reflect back my goals and things I wanted to get done with my business and life. If they’re not accomplished or almost there, this is the time to regroup and think: “OK, how can I take my experience this year and implement a better strategy for next 12 months.
Thanksgiving reminds me that I have much to be thankful for, but there is still much to improve on in the next twelve months. My Dad always said, Son, you can’t get to where you’re going if you don’t know where you are” so I use a little test to find out where I’m at. I’ve given to hundreds of people. Many said it was helpful.
For the past year: How did things go for me on a scale of one to five?
1 = terrible. 5 = absolutely terrific.
Circle the appropriate number then total the scores.
Career 1 2 3 4 5
Business 1 2 3 4 5
Family 1 2 3 4 5
Your Health 1 2 3 4 5
Finances 1 2 3 4 5
Spiritually 1 2 3 4 5
Score – 6 –10- You really need help. Seek some wise counseling.
10-15-You’re stuck in mediocrity-most people are.
15-20- You’re just a little above average.
20-25- You’re doing great, but there is still work to be done in some areas.
25-30 You’re in the top 3% of the population Congratulations!
I asked 6th grade teacher once why we had to have tests and he said, “So we can tell if you learned the material presented.” What have you learned in your business and in your life this past year?
One definition of insanity is “to keep doing the same things over and over and hoping for things to change”
